Day 1 of my Nordic adventure. Toni and I set off from Südkreuz to get the night bus to Copenhagen. Don't worry we got there in plenty of time to get a McDonald's. Please don't judge us, we just love McDonald's! It's #1 for a reason lads! I like a RoyalTS, you? Do they even have a close approximation of that in the USA… it's a quarter pounder with extra “Tomato & Salad”. You know, so I don't get Scurvy.
FlixBus is both the best and worst thing
FlixBus (Euro Grayhound) has so much going for it. It's cheap, they'll take your bike if you book ahead. It's relatively comfortable, the WiFi usually works, there's charging ports, they're not fussed about luggage, it's usually punctual. Sure it's a bit slow, but really it's magnificent! The thing that ruins it? Stupid dumb inconsiderate people or course. Like shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up normally, but it's 5 am! How can you be having a loud telephone conversation, let alone on speakerphone. We were unlucky enough to have some kind of school trip 🙄 oy vey! I hate them, I hate every single one of them. It was a welcome break to have to exit for the ferry.
Despite have 2-3 hours sleep, the weather and scenery is so beautiful in Denmark that the biking seemed easy up to Helsingborg in Sweden. Another short ferry ride that we totally delayed because our bikes were locked to the gate 😬
I am accepting donations
Jeez Sweden in expensive! New York prices! Definitely noticing the pinch. No better place in the world for bikepacking though so that more than makes up for it. There's wide bike lanes along every major road. There's sleep shelters all over the place although Swedish grandmother's might attempt to make smalltalk with you.
Crowd really stole our ramen
We were down on the beach in sight of the shelter and I saw some crows messing around by the entrance. I didn't think much of it, but when I got back there was ramen all over the place and they ate all of our bread! They also pecked holes in our packet of coffee. Well lesson learnt I suppose. You win this round, Crows.
NoPro
I have an off brand GoPro attached to my handlebars, I think it takes quite charming photos!

Its like a mix between Hipstermatic and security footage.
It's a pretty cold night. The icy wind races off the coast. It's making me feel a bit nervous about my arctic circle plans, I'll certainly need to acquire a wooly jumper.
